AW139 SAR

Posted: 26th May, 2022

Not resting on our laurels following the announcement of our winning the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade 2022, HeliOperations (HeliOps) continues our dynamic and exciting expansion and development programme with the delivery to the UK of an AW139 SAR capable helicopter.

HeliOperations purchased the aircraft from Norway to expand and develop our existing SAR Training capability of International Military customers on the Sea King. It is now registered on the UK civilian register as G-GSAR and will shortly begin SAR hoist training operations from the Portland base in Dorset, UK.

HeliOperations AW139 SAR

Leonardo Helicopters who produce the aircraft say

“The AW139 has safety and technology built into its design. Fulfilling the latest certification requirements, the helicopter benefits from multiple crashworthiness and safety features. State-of-the-art integrated avionics, fully digital glass cockpit and role equipment for SAR operations, it provides abundant space to work including accommodation for fully integrated mission console, medical treatment and casualty evacuation”

HeliOperations AW139 G-GSAR is also equipped for offshore hoist multi-crew operations.

HeliOperations pedigree in SAR is underpinned by a team of ex UK and International SAR experts in operations, training, management and crewing with huge experience across an array of helicopter types including the AW139 who have helped to develop and shape much of the current helicopter search and rescue capability in the UK and globally.

Coupling this civilian SAR training capability with HeliOps’ no nonsense, innovative and dynamic business style is a new and exciting development in the world of SAR aviation.
