Military Aircraft Over Portland

Posted: 16th May, 2022

HeliOperations continues to host a number of visits from military aircraft for whom we provide fuel and other services. The US Air Force CV22 ‘Osprey’ aircraft are particularly distinctive and popular visitors to the Portland Heliport. Based at RAF Mildenhall in Suffolk, their tiltrotor design allows for both vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) and short take-off, but also long range and high-speed transits. HeliOperations has been delighted to provide support when they operate in the South of England.

We are also delighted to support Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force aircraft, including lifting loads from our airfield. Portland provides the ideal location for embarkation to ships operating in the English Channel and can provide a range of services to make this task easier.
