HeliOperations has officially received UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) approval for Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) operations and training on the AW139 platform – marking a significant milestone in the company’s operational and instructional capability.
This approval represents the culmination of a fully integrated in-house programme, covering every stage of the process from Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) development through to training syllabus creation and operational validation. By managing the project internally, HeliOperations has ensured a cohesive and operationally focused approach aligned with the highest NVIS industry standards.
With this approval, HeliOperations now joins a select group of UK operators authorised to deliver NVIS training, further strengthening its position as a specialist provider of advanced helicopter operations and aviation training.
The capability also builds upon the company’s established military NVIS expertise, extending its experience and knowledge into wider operational and training environments. The AW139 approval enhances HeliOperations’ ability to support a broad range of missions, including search and rescue (SAR), defence support, offshore operations, and specialist aviation services where night operations capability is critical.
NVIS operations play an increasingly important role across modern rotorcraft aviation, improving situational awareness and operational effectiveness in low-light and night-time conditions. Achieving CAA approval on the AW139 platform demonstrates HeliOperations’ continued commitment to operational excellence, safety, and innovation within the UK aviation sector.
This latest development marks another important step forward for the company as it continues to expand both its operational capability and training offering for civilian and military aviation customers alike.
